I absolutely fell in love when I saw Alexandria’s version (inspired by Tessa – @sewspoke) of Peppermint Magazine + In The Folds Wrap Skirt!!!
I’ve made this skirt before as a lace cover-up but a few small changes make it feel like a whole new skirt.

I’m trying my level best to use up fabric I have in my stash and I knew I had a plaid flannel that would work perfectly! I’d gotten it from Joann Fabric last year I think. They always have nice soft flannel plaids. Just a few additions made it feel like a whole new skirt. I added 4 inches to the length to make it a maxi and I added another set of ties at hip level. I also used the selvedge edge of the fabric as a design detail for the waistband and the ties. And funny enough, I’m a size or 2 bigger than when I first made the skirt. I wasn’t going to worry about it much until I went to go pull the pattern and noticed that the back skirt piece was missing. I decided to cut just a new back in one size larger and it actually fit amazing. I didn’t need a whole size larger so making just the back one size larger was perfect!
I absolutely LOVE the outcome and have plans for a short one, a wool one, a solid colored wool one, a denim one………a lot more!!
