I’m a traveler. I once read a quote that said, “Not all who wander are lost.” That’s me! I like to wander and travel and experience different cultures and see different parts of the world and planet. I was a big geography geek in grade school so it could be the evolution of that but I haven’t been anywhere since December of 2019. That’s AGES for me! When my cousins and I decided to do a family girls trip to Antigua, I started thinking of inspiration and a theme and I decided on linen. Colorful linen. When I think of island travel, I think of lots of color and linen for comfort.
I’d had this colorful floral linen from Mood Fabrics NYC store for a long time!! I can’t even remember what I actually went for but this caught my eye and I had to have it! I did a double take when I caught sight of it from the corner of my eye and I bought a cursory 4 yards, maybe even 5. I figured it would be a maxi dress or BIG palazzo pants and a top so I needed A LOT! I don’t like coming up short so I rather over-buy then under. I could always use the remainder to make something else so YOLO!
I made a few pieces for this trip but I know that I definitely NEEDED big comfy flowy palazzo pants and a matching top. Something to work together but can also be worn as separates.
The fabric was a DREAM to work with. I can’t remember the composition but thinking it’s a blend. It’s super soft!! And sews up very easily!
The pattern is McCall’s 7789 but made as 2 pieces instead of a jumpsuit. I also added ties to the waistband for dramatic effect DAHLINGS!!!
